Weak demand and production shortfalls negatively impact SSAB’s earnings for the ...

SSAB’s operating profit for the fourth quarter 2010 will be negatively impacted by lower shipments and production, and is expected to be close to zero.
Towards the end of the fourth quarter, demand in Europe weakened at a faster rate than SSAB had anticipated in the Company’s third quarter report.  A disruption in production at one of the blast furnaces in Oxelösund contributed to a decline in earnings....

Martin Lindqvist appointed new CEO of SSAB

Martin Lindqvist has today been appointed as the new CEO of SSAB. He is currently head of the company’s largest business area, SSAB EMEA, and will succeed Olof Faxander, on January 1, 2011. Olof Faxander will become the new CEO of Sandvik AB.

SSAB will today hold a groundbreaking ceremony for its new heat treating facility for quenched and tempered steels. SSAB invests nearly $300 million for the heat treating facility in order to expand its line operations in Alabama.
