High strength steels strengthen the concrete industry

Swedish Steel Prize to Baryval Serviplem of Spain

Fewer transport trips and quicker construction. This is the vision opened by the semitrailer with concrete mixer that has been voted the best high strength steel design for 2007. Behind the design is the Spanish company Baryval Serviplem that has been awarded the Swedish Steel Prize 2007 for its work. The Prize was presented in conjunction with a gala dinner at the Berns Banqueting Hall in Stockholm on 29 November.

Leak inquiry finalized

SSAB has carried out an internal inquiry into the leak which occurred prior to publication of the company’s report for the third quarter of 2007. SSAB has concluded that the information security routines were deficient. The company will now rectify these deficiencies so that similar events do not occur again. SSAB investigates leak

SSAB has noted that information regarding the third quarter report leaked out before it had been made public. The company has therefore established an internal inquiry to investigate how the leak could have happened.

SSAB inaugurates Plate Center in China

Today SSAB inaugurated a new plate center for warehouse and wear parts processing in China, the first for SSAB in the Asia-Pacific region. Approximately 100 million RMB was invested in the new Kunshan Plate Center. It occupies an area of 50,000 sq.m. in all and can store over 20,000 tonnes of steel plate. It is a state-of-the-art advanced wear parts processing center.
