Göran Carlsson new Vice President Technology of SSAB

Rolling mill stoppage at SSAB Oxelösund

On Tuesday, one of the two main motors in the Oxelösund four-high
rolling mill was seriously damaged. Based on a preliminary evaluation of
the breakdown, the stoppage is estimated to last three weeks.

SSAB's earnings down just under 15% on last year

SSAB today presented its accounts for the first half of the year. Profit
after financial items declined by SEK 122 million to SEK 786 (908)
million. The comparison does not include the effect of SSP surplus funds
which were included in last year's results in the amount of SEK 625
million.

Tibnor sells its Industrial Supplies Group

Tibnor, 85 % owned subsidiary of SSAB, has come to an agreement that by
1 June 2001 Tibnor sells its Industrial Supplies Group to the Swedish
company Ahlsell.

Total sales of the Industrial Supplies Group during 2000 amounted to
fully SEK 1,300 million with a profit after financial items of SEK 36
million.
