Children at two Lincoln nurseries are celebrating World Book Day (Thursday 3rd March) with a variety of fun activities.
The Old Station Nursery at Lincoln College on Monks Road is encouraging children to read and share their favourite stories on the day between 2pm and 3pm and to dress up in their favourite story book character costumes.
At the Marina setting of the nursery group on Brayford Pool, children will also be sharing their favourite stories from 9.30am until 10am.
The youngsters in the Ladybird and Butterfly group aged between two and four years old will make their own books by sticking pictures and texts between 10am and 11am and will explore The Gruffalo story and its characters.
Sarah Steel, Managing Director of The Old Station Nursery, said: “World Book Day is a great opportunity to encourage children to explore books and reading.
“It’s never too early to nurture a child’s interest in books. They’re a fantastic way of helping to build imagination and engage them in a fun and interesting way.”
World Book Day was designated by UNESCO (United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization) as a worldwide celebration of books and reading and is marked in over 100 countries around the globe. It takes place this year on Thursday 3rd March.
