Swedish Defense orders high-speed encryption for international
application from Sectra
The Swedish Defense has placed an initial order with Sectra for a new
version of high-speed encryption designed for international use. The
Swedish Defense also ordered upgrading and supplementing of its existing
range of equipment for high-speed encryption from Sectra. The total
order value amounts to slightly more than SEK 9 million.
The equipment is designed to provide secure communications for
transmission by voice, data and video at high speeds.
"It is exciting that we have now received an initial order for high-
speed encryption for the Swedish Defenses' links in its international
operations. Naturally, we are also pleased to supply more high-speed
encryption of the type that is already in operation within the Swedish
Defense," says Tommy Waszkiewicz, President of Sectra Communications AB.
Currently, the Swedish Defense uses high-speed encryption in its entire
backbone network. Sectra FKK 520(TM) high-speed equipment encrypts
voice, data and video transmissions at speeds up to 155 Mbits/s, which
is significantly faster than other products on the market.
Sectra Communications AB develops and markets eavesdrop-secure mobile
communication systems and high-speed encryption used in tele-
communications and data networks. Customers include defense bodies and
authorities with advanced demands for secure communications. Sectra's
eavesdrop-secure GSM telephone, which is approved for communications up
to the advanced security level 'NATO Secret', has recorded international
successes in the past year, with orders received from such NATO
countries as Norway, Germany, the Netherlands and the Czech Republic.
