Sectra's sales for the period May-October 1999 totaled SEK 79.6 million,
10% more than in the same period in fiscal 1998/1999. Orders received
reached SEK 125.4 million. Earnings before tax ended at SEK 0.7 (1.1)
million, SEK 7.5 million of which was attributable to the second quarter.
"Our past five fiscal years have shown extreme seasonal variation, with
the lion's share of invoicing and earnings coming during the spring,"
says Sectra's CEO Jan-Olof Brüer. "The second quarter of 1999 witnessed a
strong influx of orders as well as healthy earnings. In that same period,
we received orders that are opening up new markets, including our first
export order for the Tiger, our secure GSM mobile phone.
"We have also introduced a non-military version of Sectra Tiger aimed at
employees of international companies and organizations as well as
government agencies like the police and customs," Brüer continues. "In
our business area for medical image processing systems, we have developed
a new generation of PACS digital x-ray system. The system attracted
intense interest at the RSNA x-ray show in Chicago this year."
After the end of the period, Sectra acquired Radisoft AB, which develops
and supplies administrative systems for radiology. This acquisition
complements and strengthens Sectra's range of products in medical image
processing systems.
