Sectra increases focus on UK defense market
Sectra opens new office in the UK
IT and medical technology company Sectra is increasing its focus on the
UK defense and government authorities market for secure communications
systems and is establishing a new company, Sectra Communications Ltd.,
with office in central Cheltenham, England.
"Establishment in the UK is a step in our aim to broaden Sectra's
position on the international market," says Tommy Waszkiewicz,
President of Sectra Communications AB. "The UK is one of the largest
defense markets in Europe and the demand for sophisticated
cryptographic products offered by Sectra is substantial," continues
Tommy Waszkiewicz.
Sectra Communications Ltd. will be run by directors David Law and Mike
Christie.
Mr Law has broad business and technical experience in finance, industry
and the defense sector. Mr Christie has among other things worked as
Managing Director of two crypto design companies involved in developing
many of the crypto systems in use in the U.K. Government today.
Sectra develops and sells secure mobile communications systems, high-
speed encryption for telecom and data lines as well as tactical radio
systems. Customers are the defense forces and government authorities in
Europe and within NATO with extremely high demands on communications
security. Sectra has strong core expertise in encryption and is one of
the leading companies in the world in the design and development of
secure communications systems. Sectra's system is used by customers in
Sweden, Norway, Germany, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Finland,
the US, NATO's central organization and US EUCOM.

Sectra's operations
Since the mid-1980s, Sectra has successfully conducted development and
sales of high-technology medical IT and telecommunications products.
Today, the business includes products in medical systems, secure
communication systems and wireless information systems.
Sectra's secure communications business is conducted in Sectra
Communications AB, which is one of the world's leading companies in the
design and development of secure communication systems.
Sectra's head office is located in Mjärdevi Science Park in Linköping,
Sweden and the company has its roots in research conducted at Linköping
Technical University. Business is conducted in eight countries with a
total of 280 employees. Sales for the fiscal year 2002/03 reached SEK
503 million. Since March 1999, Sectra's shares have been quoted on the
O list of Stockholmsbörsen (Stockholm Exchange). As of July 1, 2003,
the share is quoted on the Attract 40 list.
