Will the Mustang be gone in 60 seconds?

Showing its ‘star’ quality at The Walter Hayes Sales is an original 1967 Ford Mustang GT Fastback Eleanor, perhaps the most famous of all the Mustang models, which has been meticulously restored to its former glory.
However, the question on everyone’s lips is whether it will be gone in 60 seconds, as it was the Shelby GT500 that starred in the 1974 B-film of this name, which was remade in 2000 starring Nicholas Cage.
Undoubtedly, bidding is expected to be fast and furious for this particular model in Pepper Grey metallic with Black stripe, which has a custom fitted professional Eleanor body conversion and has undergone a 2,000 plus hour restoration to full Shelby GT500 specification. The result is an auction estimated price of between £70,000 and £90,000.
The engine is reputed to have a monstrous 500+ bhp performance, so it’s not for the fainthearted. However, the steering, suspension and brakes have all been modified, resulting in a truly modern handling experience.
“No expense has been spared in restoring this Mustang to its former glory. From using the very best parts, to paying matriculate attention to detail, has resulted in creating one of the finest models we’ve ever seen,” said Nick Whale, managing director, Silverstone Auctions, who are hosting the auction.
Anyone wanting to attend the auction, buy a catalogue or register a bid, needs to do so beforehand by visiting
