NICOLAS CAGE AND THE YAMAHA VMAX SET THE WORLD ON FIRE

Nicolas Cage returns to face evil as the fiery anti-hero known as the Ghost Rider, in the new movie Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance, released in 3D in cinemas on 17 February. Riding a ‘flaming’ Yamaha VMAX, Ghost Rider aka Johnny Blaze, definitely makes an impact on one of Yamaha’s most iconic motorcycles. Taken from the famous Marvel comics character, this is Cage’s second time playing the Ghost Rider, and this time the fiery bike of choice had to be the Yamaha VMAX muscle bike.

Still struggling with the curse of being the Devil’s bounty hunter, Blaze is recruited by a secret sect to save a young boy from the Devil. This could be his chance to rid himself of the curse forever. Blaze’s VMAX is customised to look charred and burnt as if newly emerged from hell, but the unmistakeable outline of the aluminium air-intakes shows that the VMAX is clearly the machine for the job.

Ghost Rider’s motorcycle had to be meaty, manly and powerful and of course the 1,679cc liquid-cooled, 4-stroke, 200bhp, V4 engine that pulls the VMAX definitely fits the bill. The aggressive styling of the modern VMAX continues the tradition of the original and well known V-Max of the 1980’s, but now comes with modern additions such as a dramatic, black, low-profile aluminium frame with giant front forks and massive, aggressively-styled aluminium air intakes.
