Volvo Group – Report on the fourth quarter and full-year 2011

The Volvo Group’s strong trend continued during the fourth quarter of 2011. Sales rose in all regions, profitability improved and cash flow was strong.
 

· In the fourth quarter net sales increased by 18% to SEK 86.5 billion (73.4). Adjusted for currency movements and acquired and divested units, sales increased by 20%. For the full year net sales increased by 17% to SEK 310.4 billion (264.7).

During the third quarter of 2011, demand remained favorable in most of the Volvo Group’s markets. Sales rose to SEK 73.3 billion. Operating income improved to SEK 5.8 billion, compared with SEK 4.9 billion in the year-earlier period, corresponding to an operating margin of 7.9% (7.7). The number of votes in AB Volvo has changed due to the conversion of a total of 3,013,228 Series A shares to a total of 3,013,228 Series B shares. The conversions were implemented with the support of the opportunity for Series A shareholders to request conversion of Series A shares to Series B shares, which was entered in the Articles of Association at the 2011 Annual General Meeting.

During the second quarter, the Volvo Group’s sales continued to grow as an effect of a continued recovery in the Group’s mature markets and continued strong demand in emerging markets.
