Large financial injection into the ESS project from Germany

Germany announces today a large financial contribution to the European Spallation Source project with 21 million euros.
The announcement was made today by the federal Ministry of Education and Research, the Bundesministerium für Bildung und Forschung. The contribution by the federal German government will mean an injection of 15 million euros into the ESS project, currently underway in Lund in southern Sweden....

Dimitri Argyriou appointed as new ESS AB Science Director

Dimitri Argyriou has been appointed as the new Science Director of the European Spallation Source ESS AB. He is to replace the current Science Director Christian Vettier.
Dimitri Argyriou will take up the position as Science Director from 1st January 2011. He is currently the Chair of the ESS Science Advisory Council and a senior scientist at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin.

Today, Stig Skelboe has been appointed as Project Leader for the ESS Data Management, Computing and Software Centre in Copenhagen, part of the planned European science facility ESS.
