NCC to renovate classic brick buildings at City Hall in Oslo for SEK 95
million
NCC Construction AS Norway has been commissioned by the Municipal
Properties Department in Oslo to renovate the interior of the classic
brick buildings at Oslo City Hall. The assignment is worth approximately
SEK 83 million (NOK 66 million) plus an option on interior-design work
worth about SEK 12 million (NOK 9.6 million).
The two buildings, at Olav V's gata and Fridtjof Nansens plats, were
erected before World War II and were originally built in brick and
concrete.
Renovation work, which will be performed as a turnkey concrete, will
include a comprehensive upgrade of ventilation, water, sewage, heating
and electrical installations. The contract pertains to a total of 8,300
square meters of floor space distributed among eight stories in one of
the buildings and six stories in the other. Following renovation, the
properties will contain modern and efficient office space.
Work will commence in January 2003 and is scheduled for completion
during autumn 2003.
"NCC believes that renovation activities in Oslo offer considerable
potential and looks forward to close and mutually beneficial cooperation
with the Municipal Properties Department in Oslo," says Tommy Helgerud,
Regional Manager, NCC Construction AS Norway.
