Lufthansa’s summer boost for Edinburgh services
Lufthansa is boosting services from Edinburgh this summer with the introduction of a new service to Düsseldorf and the reinstatement of a second daily service to Frankfurt
The new six times a week service (daily except Saturday) to Düsseldorf will start on 26th April offering up to 70 seats in a two class configuration. Meanwhile, Lufthansa has also confirmed the reintroduction of the teatime service from Edinburgh to Frankfurt.
Announcing the boost to the Edinburgh services, Marianne Sammann, Lufthansa General Manager UK and Ireland, said “This reaffirms Lufthansa’s commitment to our customers in Scotland and our belief that the recent economic issues that have particularly affected business travel are starting to subside.
“By introducing the six times a week summer service to Düsseldorf we will be offering a daily link to and from Scotland during the peak holiday months when our Saturday service between Inverness and Düsseldorf also operates between 5th June and 11th September.”
“Lufthansa continues to offer a range of highly competitive fares for both business and leisure travellers. We will be offering one way fares to Düsseldorf from just £49 as well as highly competitive Business Class fares starting at £399 inclusive of all taxes and charges, a generous hold and hand baggage allowance and on board food and drink.
With a flight time of under two hours, the new service offers quick and easy access to Düsseldorf and the surrounding area of North Rhine Westphalia which are extremely popular with tourists. The elegant, commercial and cultural city of Düsseldorf features plenty of modern amenities, including Germany’s most famous shopping mile, the so-called swanky “Kö” (short for “Königsallee”) shopping boulevard. With a huge selection of bars and restaurants, concert halls, museums, a number of theatres and also a riverside promenade, it is immediately clear that locals in Dusseldorf enjoy the good life. Many of the best restaurants can be found within the Altstadt (Old Quarter) and around its many appealing back streets.
The surrounding area of North Rhine-Westphalia is the densest cultural region in Europe. Every year, 683 museums attract almost 15 million visitors offering quality exhibitions of the old and new masters and unrivalled treasures of art and culture. The region has 160 stages, a large variety of orchestras, and hosts many pop and rock concerts. In addition to the art, music and theatre, the area is also renowned for its architecture and historic manors and castles.
Frankfurt also remains a popular destination, especially for those wishing to visit the numerous trade fairs and exhibitions that take place there every year. The city also boasts an excellent cultural pedigree with first rate museums, high-calibre performance groups, local festivals and beautiful surrounding countryside.
