New Level 2 Fisheries Management Apprenticeship

Professionals working in Fisheries Management in England and Wales are urged to participate in a consultation, organised by Lantra, focusing on the proposed development of a new Level 2 Fisheries Management Apprenticeship.

The consultation is available now as an online survey, and will determine the need for the framework. The consultation closes 12 December 2011, and if there is sufficient evidence to progress, the draft framework will be sent to all interested parties for final review.

Kevin Patrick, Lantra’s Partnership Manager for the environmental conservation and fisheries management industries will be working with Jo-Anne Bryan, Lantra’s Apprenticeship Manager to support this consultation and liaise with industry, making sure the framework is designed to best support the needs of the UK’s professionals.

Kevin said: “Apprenticeships are an established and respected career entry route in the UK, and over the past year the government has stressed the importance of apprentices to the workforce. We recognise the value of ‘bite-sized’, flexible training but also want to make sure this bigger, structured Framework is an option for those interested in working in fisheries management.”

Jo-Anne said: “This consultation is essential because it measures the need for an Apprenticeship from individuals currently working in this industry. With their guidance we can measure if there is a requirement to develop a level 2 apprenticeship. Either way, it is essential that professionals come to us and let us know their viewpoints so we can help better support those in fisheries management.”
