LOCALS WILL BE QUIDS IN WITH MARCH MADNESS

Blackpool Zoo is gearing up for March Madness by offering residents of Blackpool, Wyre and the Fylde half price admission for the entire month.

From 1st to 31st March 2011, locals living in postcodes FY1 to FY8, PR3 and PR4 can take advantage of the 50 per cent discount to discover why the zoo scooped three top tourism awards in 2010 and catch up with the all beautiful babies that arrived last year.

Jude Rothwell, Marketing and PR Coordinator at Blackpool Zoo, commented: “This will be third year that we have ran our March Madness promotion and we have been overwhelmed by the response from visitors in previous years.

“It is our way of saying thank you to Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde residents for the support they give throughout the year and give them a chance to visit their favourite zoo for a fraction of the price.”

The zoo is planning another bumper year as it unveils a massive £850,000 investment programme.

A huge, £500,000 indoor and outdoor new Children’s Farm will open in time for Easter, which will be home to old favourites and some new faces too.

Children of all ages will be able to get closer than ever before with the daily hand-on activities and there is plenty of space to run and play.

A completely refurbished and extended main restaurant, which has renamed Lake View Café, opened its doors with a new and exciting menu in the February half term holiday. An extensive outside dining area will be completed in April.

The restaurant overhaul, which has cost £350,000, comes after the zoo identified the need for additional space and more food choice as a result of the huge increase in visitor numbers in recent years.

With much more to see and do in 2011, locals could even take advantage of the half price offer and put the saving towards a zoo membership.

Starting at just £26.90 for a child’s membership up to £140 for a family of five, it gives unlimited access to the zoo until the end of 2011, for the price of just two and a half visits.

There has been a huge surge in interest in the package over the past 12 months and the zoo will be continuing a series of members-only events in 2011.

March Madness visitors need to provide valid identification as proof of address such as a driving licence or recent utility bill.

Up to four people per household can take advantage but it cannot be used in conjunction with family tickets or any other offers.
