Media Release: Ellis Plans Radical Return To Donington Podium

Hinckley, Leicestershire – Friday, August 5, 2011; Bradley Ellis will be aiming to bounce back to podium form on August 13-14 in the penultimate double header rounds, 11 and 12, of the Dunlop Radical UK Cup at Donington Park.
Located less than an hour away from his new Hinckley home, Ellis will be hoping to maximise his championship points haul at the famous circuit situated on the Derbyshire/Leicestershire border.

Drive shaft failure on his Supreme Racing Radical SR3 put paid to Ellis’ podium perfect run at Brands Hatch, the track close to his birth town of Croydon, in early July resulting in his only non-finish of the season.

Despite that misfortune the 24 year-old still lies sixth in the Radical UK Cup title battle, even though he has only competed in select series races as he supports Andy Cummings in his debut Radical season.

The sweeping Donington Park circuit has previously been a happy hunting ground for the sportscar ace. In 2007 Ellis got his British GT Championship campaign off to a flying start, second place and his first podium of the season laid the foundations for a stellar season en route to the coveted sportscar title.

The Supreme Racing duo head to the next Radical rounds equipped with a new Radical SR3. Although delivered the day before Brands Hatch, Ellis had only 10 laps in Friday practice to develop the car. With more testing time planned to fine-tune their chariot before Donington Park qualifying, hopes are high to maximise their championship and podium potential.

Although the 2011 season is rapidly drawing to a close, Ellis hasn’t lost sight of scoring his first Radical win with his new racing partner. With second and third-place podiums already to his credit the former British GT Champion will be aiming to go one better and take the top step of the rostrum at his newly-adopted home track.

Ellis commented: “We had a tough time at Brands Hatch but that’s behind us now and we’re fully focused on making up for lost points in the penultimate rounds of the season. I’m looking forward to taking the new Supreme Racing Radical SR3 to Donington Park.

“It’s important that we get more time in the new car as although it felt pretty good at Brands Hatch, especially considering we only had 10 laps of testing, we need to be able to perfect the race set-up.

“If we can get the car nicely balanced I hope we can again aim for Supreme Racing’s first Radical win. We certainly need a good result after our recent non finish while a podium would also mean a lot as Donington is now my adopted home track, as I moved from Croydon to Hinckley earlier this year. It should be a good weekend.”

The racing action kicks off at Donington Park late on Saturday, August 13, with the double qualifying session starting at 17:50. Round 11 of the Dunlop Radical UK Cup takes place at 11:50 on Sunday, August 14, followed by round 12 at 14:55.
