Getinge continues its investment in the bed management and pressure care

market

Getinge Industrier today acquired the UK company Egerton
Hospital Equipment Ltd
Egerton - with its head office in Orpington, Kent - has a turnover of SEK
45 million and 72 employees. Egerton manufactures and markets
specialised beds and anti-decubitus mattresses for hospitals and nursing
homes. Anti-decubitus mattresses are used in the prevention and
treatment of bed sores.
The acquisition will lead to an improvement in sales and cost
containment. Egerton's business will be integrated with Pegasus
Airwave Ltd, which Getinge acquired in April. Pegasus will therefore be
one of the leading suppliers of specialised beds and pressure sore
mattresses in the UK, with a market share of about 25%. The integration
will have a positive effect on results in 1999.

Geriatric care a constantly growing market
There is a trend towards providing clients with complete product
solutions in a number of European health care markets. The Egerton
acquisition will widen the product range and means that clients'
increasing demands can be met. This acquisition will strengthen the
Group's competitiveness in the UK as well as the rest of Europe.
Getinge is a medical-technical Group and a world leader in the fields of
sterilization, disinfection, patient handling and hygiene systems. The
Group has 3,700 employees and had a turnover of SEK 4.6 billion in
1997.
