Today on World Kidney Day, Fresenius Medical Care Renal Services announces plans to offer Online Haemodiafiltration (Online HDF) across its UK clinics. The programme has already begun to be introduced, and will be completed by 2012.
On the day when Fresenius Medical Care Renal Services begins its countdown to its 20th anniversary on Thursday 1 April, the world’s leading provider of dialysis products and services has committed to rolling out Online HDF, a treatment modality using ultrapure dialysate produced by the machine as a substitution fluid. This allows the exchange of large amounts of fluid during treatment, thereby achieving a dialysis which more closely resembles the natural kidney function.
Investment in technology is crucial and in 2009, Fresenius Medical Care Renal Services completed a £1million installation of a new clinical management system called EuCliD5. It provides a single specialist Renal IT system throughout all of the clinics in the UK and Ireland and stores all the treatment and clinical data of the dialysis patients. In addition, EuCliD5 enables full treatment information for the clinician’s patients to be available at the main NHS Trust or even integrated into the NHS renal system. This bi-directional data transfer facility enables data to be sent between the NHS and clinic for a seamless service.
