Survey Says - Drifting Apart Most Common Reason for Grey Divorce

Al and Tipper Gore are not alone.  A new survey of divorce professionals in the United States and Canada suggests the most common reason for divorces among the over 50 crowd is they no longer have common interests.

The survey, conducted by the Association of Divorce Financial Planners (ADFP) as a prelude to its upcoming conference, also suggested infidelity, emotional exhaustion and the end of the child rearing process are other common reasons. 

According to ADFP Vice President Cinda Jones, “Gray divorces are a rapidly growing divorce demographic, and it is likely these and other causes frequently overlap in divorces among this group.  Two common triggers are the children leaving the home and upcoming retirement.”
