Exhibitor Show Highlights at The Natural Food Show 2011

This weekend sees the launch of the new Natural Food Show at Natural & Organic Products Europe. Taking place at London’s Olympia on 3-4 April, hundreds of Natural Food Show exhibitors will showcase a distinctive array of natural, organic, Fairtrade, sustainable, free from, vegetarian, local, biodynamic, raw, artisan, ethical, vegan, fresh, and healthy food and drink products from all across the world. From new product launches to brand innovations and packaging re-designs – the following is just a taste of what show press and industry buyers can expect to see at the UK’s only dedicated trade event for natural and organic products.
• RW Garcia (stand 9067) brings something new to snacking with Special Recipe tortilla chips designed to provide healthy and organic snack alternatives to the traditional yellow corn tortilla chip. RW Garcia is a recognised leader in organic tortilla chips made with better-for-you ingredients. The Special Recipe Organic line includes Flaxseed, Veggie, and Thin tortilla chips, made from organic stone-ground maize. RW Garcia Flaxseed tortilla chips combine Organic yellow corn, organic flaxseeds, and organic soy with all-natural seasonings. The RW Garcia flaxseed tortilla chips are available in the Thai and Flax flavours. While RW Garcia Veggie contains no trans fats, cholesterol, wheat or gluten.
• This year, Windmill Organics will be exhibiting some great new products from three of its organic brands. Organic Gluten-Free Black Forest Muffins are a new addition to the Amisa special diet range. While the new Amisa Organic Green Spelt is a nutritious, wholegrain alternative to rice. Making its show debut under the Biona brand is bestseller Biona Organic Virgin Coconut Oil – now in a larger 800g jar. Unrefined, unbleached and non-deodorised – it’s pure, cold pressed coconut goodness. RAW Health’s new unpasteurised Organic Sauerkraut, which is mildly flavoured with a crisp, crunchy texture, will also be on stand 7040.
• Provamel (stand 5040) is aiming to shake up the yogurt aisle with the launch of an innovative new ‘botanical’ range – a first-of-its-kind combination of natural organic herbal ingredients, fruits and dairy-free soya yoghurt. With the added benefit of herbal ingredients, the new dairy-free collection occupies a unique position, not just within the soya category but the yogurt category as a whole. There are currently two varieties in the ‘botanical’ range – Apple Green Tea (500g) and Lime Lemon Balm (500g), with a further flavour set to be added later in the year.
• London-based Crispy Snacks company launches highly innovative fat-free fruit and vegetable crisps. It is set to revolutionise the snack industry by providing a tasty and healthy alternative to traditional salty and fatty foods. New crisps are free from additives and added sugar, and contain less than 1% fat. Thanks to the advanced production technology the product inside the vacuumed pack retains almost all nutritious values present in fresh fruits and vegetables because the water is evaporated from the product in a form of steam within a short time (only 2 hours, temperature not exceeding 40˚!). Dried fruits and vegetables are therefore crispy and crunchy (stand 8072).
• Soulful Soup conjures up a wholesome range of handmade gourmet soups, stews, curries and salad dressings, delivering wholesale to cafes and food outlets around the UK, as well as a retail range. They also have a food trailer for festivals and events. Soulful Soup will be launching its new and suitably fresh Spring Menu at this year's Natural & Organic Products Europe. The menu features some delicious additions for the season, many of which are dairy, wheat and gluten free. Come to stand 9020A and sample some of our favourites.
• Green & Black’s Organic make and sell premium organic and Fairtrade chocolate. At this year’s Natural & Organic Products Europe the company is looking forward to presenting a wide range of new gift options based around its very popular miniatures selection. There will also be an exciting new flavour added to the large block range. Come to stand 6001 to experience a little bit of that magical Green & Black’s taste, which has made us the number one premium chocolate brand in the UK market.
• Orchard Organics (stand 7018) are delighted to introduce their Kay’s Kitchen Range of Handmade Organic Preserves. Kay’s Kitchen Range uses a combination of the finest quality organic ingredients which have been perfected over the generations on the family farm. The great tasting preserves are currently available in Strawberry, Raspberry, Damson, Plum and Marmalade. Orchard Organics are about to launch their first ever diabetic handmade Organic Strawberry Preserve, with more varieties to follow later in the year. All are available in 28g, 227g and 3kg sizes. Kay’s Kitchen is made by Orchard Organics in Co Armagh.
• Just in time for the show, Storm Tea has had 8 loose leaf teas in its 'silk' pyramids certified organic by the Soil Association – they're delighted. Storm Tea has also revamped its packaging, taken stock of its fab new serving jars and POS for its cafe customers. Just to round it off, there are two newcomers to the range – Lemongrass and Vanilla tea and Red Berry and Rose petal tea (stand 6002S).
• inwa nature luxury cosmetic and food products are sourced from our local environment in SW Morocco. inwa has organic Argan flavouring oil, Spiruline from Dakhla and premium quality natural Saffron from Taliouine available for sampling (stand 2016). Bulk format for distributors and natural food companies available.
• Simply Ice Cream (stand 9020H), an indulgent luxury brand made from entirely natural locally sourced products, has just launched a number of nut based ice creams to add to the range. These include: Pistachio (a fantastic 100% pure anterp pistachio from a small producer called WhyNut Ltd, who is starting to import from Turkey); Hazelnut; and Maple and Walnut. Also two flavours in conjunction with nut company Mr Filbert’s, who are supplying a chili chocolate almond for the Chocolate ice cream and a toffee waffle hazelnut. Winner of a Highly Commended in the Quality Food Awards 2010 and Winner of 2 Great Taste Awards 2010.
• Smallganics Limited (stand 6002Q) provides a new range of organic baby food to the market. Set up by two parents with young children, they are looking to establish the brand and expand the range, and then introduce more exciting new Organic food products to the market. Small in name, our products are small but with our infrastructure, ideas and flexibility we are BIG on potential!
• Real Nice Organic (stand 6002G) is a family company. Unlike any other ice lolly, they are Soil Association approved, made from the whole fruit not just the juice, and have no additives whatsoever – not even water. These fruit smoothie ice lollies come in three mouth watering flavours – Banana and Raspberry, Mixed Berry and Mango and are perfect for everyone. Even those with allergies can indulge safely, while actually doing themselves good. Now available in multipacks, so they can be enjoyed straight from your freezer. These 100% organic fruit lollies are so natural they really could grow on trees.
• Come and see Zotter Chocolate on stand 8008 and join in the fun. Taste some of your favourite varieties, along with a few you won’t have heard about yet. This is a not-to-be-missed opportunity to see the whole Zotter range in one place and to learn about new products Zotter will be launching in the autumn. Not only will Josef Zotter be at the show, but the whole Zotter family will be there as well. So if you would like to find out a little (or a lot) more about Zotter chocolate, there couldn’t be a better time.
• Recognised as one of the most successful business ideas showcased on the 2009 season of Ireland’s Dragons’ Den, Dee’s Wholefoods Eat Well, Be Happy range has been steadily growing in popularity among a diverse customer base of vegetarians, vegans, coeliacs and anyone keen to follow a healthy balanced diet (stand 7036). Dee’s burgers are perfect for consumers who crave a healthy burger that’s not full of artificial additives and animal fats! Based in West Cork, we use only the finest fresh vegetables, unrefined grains and seeds to create natural, nutritious and tasty wholefood burgers. And hear about a new high protein organic pasta range enriched with mineral salts, vitamins and selenium from its Italian co-op producers in person.
• Freedom Brands will be exhibiting their brand new coconut water, Go Coco, at Natural & Organic Products Europe 2011. Go Coco Coconut Water (stand 7081) is low in calories, has zero cholesterol, no added sugar, and no synthetic additives. This new range celebrates an era of the first solid eating chocolate, developed in Bristol back in 1847. The new additions sit perfectly alongside the current line-up of twelve and are made using exactly the same organic and Fairtrade Belgium chocolate used in the ‘Choose Your Mood’ range. • Cawston Press (stand 7096) will be extending their award-winning range of juices by launching a new Apple & Carrot 100% pressed juice at the show. They have also increased their 250ml mini-carton range to include their 4 biggest sellers – Apple, Apple & elderflower, Apple & Rhubarb and Apple & Ginger. Cawston Press have been making apple juice since 1986. They pick and press their apples within 48 hours and there are 10 whole apples in every pack. They have won several coveted awards, including the Great Taste Awards 2010, Grocer Branded Excellence Award and the Quality Food Awards.
• It’s Only Natural launch new Fruit Freezie Family Pack. Fruit Freezies are 100% fruit squeeze-up ice lollies. Made in the UK from NFC pressed and juiced fruit, Fruit Freezies contain no added sugar or artificial additives. • Bob’s Red Mill Natural Foods (stand 6035) are back at the show this year to present their core range of leading, gluten free products, which have been launched in the UK through Lavida Food. • Montebello Pasta – organic from the field to the table. Alce Nero Cooperativa (stand 6050 in the Italian Pavilion) was founded in 1977 and its pasta is now sold in most countries, including: Germany, France, Japan and USA. Selected as best pasta sold in the US market (Washingtonian, 2006), they are looking for a UK distribution partner. A totally organic company, Montebello® pasta is made using raw materials grown in Italy and pure spring water with no industrial-based agriculture upstream of it. Montebello® pasta is dried at low temperatures and for very long periods in order to maintain all the nutrients and taste of the raw materials in the finished product.
• This year, Higher Nature will be devoting a stand (7001) to its exceptional Omega Excellence food range, where visitors can sample its tasty Walnut Butter and Pumpkin Seed Butter. Products include a Wild Pomegranate Balsamic Vinegar and one of the healthiest, most versatile cooking oils around – Coconut Butter. Due to the quality of the different oils that are used and the delicious taste of the products, the Omega Excellence products are an important addition to kitchens across the country. Christine Bailey will also be demonstrating a selection of delicious recipes to help you ‘re-energise your life’ on Sunday 3 April at 11.00am in the Natural Food Kitchen.
• Making its debut at the show, award winning Canaan Fair Trade (stand 8016) is adding three new flavours of Organic Infused Olive Oil to its Canaan premium varieties: Nabali Olive Oil, from native trees in Palestine, Rumi Olive Oil, from ancient trees that date back to the Roman time in Palestine, and Canaan Estate Olive Oil from the Canaan orchard. Other new launches include Nabali Olive Tapenades, plus traditional sun dried Tomatoes and hand rolled Maftoul (Palestinian couscous). The new products expand a popular line of Palestinian olive oil, olives, hand-rolled couscous, and handmade za'atar or thyme mixture.
• Leading spiced tea brand Yogi Tea® is to unveil a quartet of new blends at this year’s show. New Yogi Tea Licorice Mint, Yogi Tea Ginger Orange Vanilla, Yogi Tea Pure with Lemon, and Yogi Tea Ginger will be rolled out to the company’s major markets from the spring of this year (stand 8110). Key ingredients in the new teas will be familiar to the brand’s loyal followers. Licorice, lemon and ginger often play supporting roles in many of Yogi Tea’s best-selling blends but these new formulations, guided as ever by the teachings of Ayurveda, celebrate the full-bodied flavour of these ingredients.
• Need a healthy lunch on the go? Fancy a change from the usual lunchtime suspects? Why not try an award winning pot of Easy Bean (stand 9020C). Low fat, high in soluble fibre, low salt, gluten free, low GI, counts as 2-3 of your 5-a-day, and made with 100% natural ingredients. Sold exclusively in health food shops and independents, specialties include organic light brown flours, ideal for tasty yet nutritious cakes – high in fibre but as easy to use as white flour, and wholesome stoneground wholemeal bread flour, traditionally ground on hundred year old Burr stones. Marriage’s strong flours are suitable for bread machines and hand baking. Marriage's have been family run flour millers in Essex since 1824.
• Project Organics Brasil will represent Brazil with three exhibiting companies: Surya Brasil, Chá Mate Triunfo, and Florestas/Ikove. Chá Mate Triunfo (stand 4070) provides the beverages and food ingredients market with green yerba mate, roasted and aged, plus green mate tea flavours: peach, lemon and cinnamon. Organics Brasil Project is the result of a joint action of private enterprise with the IPD (Institute for Promotion of Development) and the Apex-Brasil (Brazilian Agency for the Promotion of Exports and Investment), forming a solid institutional base meant to strengthen the Brazilian organic and facilitate its expansion in international markets.
• Glee Gum (stand 8053) is an all natural, gluten-free chewing gum with no artificial colouring, flavouring, sweeteners nor preservatives. Glee Gum is the only gum in North America made the old-fashioned way, with chicle! Chicle is a tree sap harvested sustainably from the rainforests of Central America. Once all chewing gum was made with chicle, but today most gum is made entirely from synthetic stuff. Not Glee Gum! Glee Gum uses chicle because it is an eco-friendly way to help conserve the rainforest. Glee Gum is a ‘green’ gum right down to the packaging, which is made from recycled cardboard. Chew with Glee, naturally!
• New exhibitors Azienda Agricola Berna Fabio Mario sees Umbrian farmers promoting the organic excellence of their territory. Visitors to stand 6050 can sample the beans of the Etruscans (Fagiolina of Trasimeno Lake), as well as wine, olive oil and cheeses made with organic agriculture. Organically grown products support a biologically diverse, healthy environment and their benefits to health are widespread. Organic farming protects the environment from highly damaging chemical contamination, produces environmentally sustainable and healthy food, and it helps to preserve biodiversity by using local varieties at risk of extinction.
• Tunch Foods (stand 8056) produce a range of all natural snack bars called pack tunch. pack tunch are made from just fruits, nuts and cereals, avoiding all added additives, preservatives, colourings or flavourings. The bars are gluten-free, vegan and raw, as well as steering clear of all added sugars or sweeteners. Packed full of vitamins, minerals, fibre, protein and good-carbohydrates pack tunch are designed to give you goodness on-the-go anytime, anywhere. Based in Fife, Scotland, Tunch Foods have been producing healthy treats for just over two years and in that time it’s gone from strength to strength.
