Cision ranks top UK fashion writers ahead of London Fashion Week and releases in-depth media profiles
LONDON, 3 February, 2011 - The UK's most influential media in fashion have been revealed by Cision, provider of software, services and tools for the media and PR industries. Powered by Cision's media database, and including more than 2,000 contacts and outlets with over 1,000 Twitter handles, Cision today released the list of top bloggers, Tweeters, Facebook pages and magazines in UK fashion. Covering the fashion industry in its entirety from traditional to social media, the lists include top vintage, styling, urban, bespoke tailoring and general fashion blogs.
The most influential fashion writers in social media are listed on Cision's website, including the top three fashion blog in the UK, named as FACEHUNTER, Style Bubble and park & cube. While in the urban fashion and lifestyle area, the top three blogs in the UK were named as THE DAILY STREET, Individualism, and YIN&YANG.
Cision's blog ranking methodology goes beyond how many visits an outlet receives. Using Cision's unparalleled knowledge of the media and influence factors, a complex algorithm was created accounting for popularity, inbound links, traffic and engagement for each outlet, to provide as accurate a picture as possible of the influence fashion writers have.
Timed ahead of London Fashion Week, Cision has provided a valuable new tool to PR professionals in its Fashion Premium Media Profiles – available through the CisionPoint software platform. The detailed profiles give PRs the knowledge they need to approach fashion writers in the manner they prefer, enabling them to communicate more effectively and build solid relationships. The Premium Profiles include biographies, filing deadlines, social media content and contact preferences to simplify the liaison between fashion brands and the media.
"In fashion, writers can make or break a brand, and social media has completely changed the PR game. Despite the continued importance of glossy magazines in the fashion sector, building strong relationships through social media is now also paramount to success," said Tosh Bruce-Morgan, Managing Director of Cision UK. "In the age of Twitter, PR and marketing professionals need the most accurate, up-to-date and complete information possible to do their jobs. Cision helps both PRs and journalists by making the conversation more natural and targeted."
Providing immediate benefit to all PRs working in fashion, Cision has also released a sample fashion briefing book which includes 30 UK and US media profiles on key fashion writers, available for download on its website. This features influencers such as Jo Elvin, Editor at Glamour magazine, Hilary Alexander, Fashion Director at The Daily Telegraph and Mark Heyes, Fashion Stylist on the Lorraine show.
To better understand the intricacies of the fashion media landscape, Cision has undertaken in-depth interviews with leading names in fashion, including Anda Rowland, vice chairman of Anderson & Shepard, the bespoke tailors on Savile Row, and fashion blogger Ella Gregory of Coco's Tea Party. Of the changing media landscape, Ella said, " I do agree that certain fashion bloggers have become incredibly influential, and the style of blogging seems to be influencing more and more publications. However, I don’t think that blogs have (or will ever, for that matter) replace traditional forms of fashion journalism." The full interviews are published on Cision's blog.
