Capio acquires Medocular AB

Capio has acquired 100% of the shares in Medocular AB, the largest
private company in the eye healthcare (ophthalmologic) field in the
Nordic region. Medocular has annual sales of slightly more than SEK 70
M, with 45 employees. The formal transfer of ownership will take place
on October 1, 2001.

Capio AB has acquired all of Medocular's operations in Uppsala,
Stockholm, Norrköping, Linköping, Gothenburg and Malmö, all in Sweden.
Medocular, which was established 15 years ago, is today the largest
private-sector company in the ophthalmic care field. Operations focus
primarily on assignments from the public health sector and the company
annually carries out approximately 10% of all cataract operations in
Sweden. Organisationally, Medocular will become part of Capio's
Healthcare Nordic business area.

"Through Medocular, Capio gains a prominent position within eye
healthcare services in Sweden and a strong platform for international
expansion in this field," says Stanley Brodén, Head of Business Area
Healthcare Nordic.

Medocular specialises in general eye medicine, cataract surgery and
treatment of defective-vision disorders, such as short-sightedness
(myopia).

"As part of the Capio Group, we see major opportunities for the further
development of eye healthcare services in a broader context and for
being able to increase availability for patients over the longer term,"
says Rudolph Hahnenberger, President of Medocular.
