FLORENCE SULLIVAN CELEBRATES A CENTURY!

Mrs Florence Sullivan, a resident of Bupa’s Perry Locks Nursing Home, Perry Barr, Birmingham, is looking forward to celebrating her 100th birthday on Thursday 31 December at 11.30am. The home will be hosting a party to celebrate the occasion and Councillor Michael Wilkes, Mayor of Birmingham, and Vivienne Wilkes, Lady Mayoress, will be attending.

Florence is Birmingham born and bred and has spent her entire life in the area. She attended Almar Street School and went on to work in a factory.

At the age of 20 she married William Sullivan and they had six children, one boy and five girls. Florence now has in excess of 40 grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

Family and friends of Florence will be holding a surprise party on the Thursday afternoon, with entertainment from a singer. Relatives from Australia will be attending to help celebrate her special day.

Described as a ‘true brummie’ by her family, Florence takes part in all the activities organised in the home and especially enjoys playing bingo.

Heather Hunter, Home Manager of Bupa’s Perry Locks Nursing Home, says: “Florence is a lovely resident who always makes time to speak to you and enjoys taking part in the activities organised by the home. We want to make sure her birthday is a really special event and we are sure she will enjoy meeting the Mayor and Lady Mayoress. She will be really surprised seeing her relatives from Australia and I can’t wait to see the look on her face.”
