Staff at Bupa Care Services’ Leeds head office will be putting on their running shoes to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society on Sunday 15 May, as they take part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run. Four Bupa staff members will be running the 10km race, which will pass through Manchester’s city centre, finishing on Deansgate.
The Bupa staff participating in the run are:
Daniel Tasker, Sales and Marketing Service Centre Executive
Lucy Albone, Graphic Designer
Anna Wilcox, Marketing Communications Manager
Caroline Macfarlane, Head of MI, Payroll & Sales Ledger
In addition, Hayley Armitage, Activities Coordinator at Bupa’s Hazelmere House care home in Wilmslow, Cheshire will be lending her services to the run as a volunteer.
Siobhan Drane, Bupa’s community affairs consultant, says: “I’m very proud that our staff are taking part in the Bupa Great Manchester Run. Everyone has been so enthusiastic and the money raised is supporting such a worthy cause, close to the hearts of many staff members and residents within our homes. Good luck to all those taking part!”.
Dr Graham Stokes, Bupa’s director of dementia care says: ‘Alzheimer’s Society and Bupa are working together across a range of projects to support people with dementia and their carers to find a cure for the future, whilst improving their quality of life and care. Both organisations share a commitment to fighting dementia and a belief in the health benefits of exercise. Signing up to support Alzheimer’s Society in a Bupa Great Run means you can get fit, helping reduce your risk of dementia whilst raising money for a very worthwhile cause.’
The Bupa Great Manchester Run was first staged in 2003 and over 36,000 runners take part each year. Full coverage of the event can be watched live on BBC2.
Bupa will match all the money raised by employees taking part in the run.
