Veolia wear it pink in support of Breast Cancer Campaign
Last Friday, staff at Veolia Environmental Services, Tower Hamlets, organised a day of pink themed activity in support of Breast Cancer Campaign’s annual wear it pink day.
Sites in Tower Hamlets and across the country, turned pink for the day when all staff donned items of pink and donated £2 each to Breast Cancer Campaign. There were raffles, sweepstake games and pink themed cake sales and some brave employees even took part in a sponsored wax! Some of Veolia’s refuse vehicles also got in on the action by featuring the wear it pink logo, all to help fund world-class breast cancer research.
Jean-Dominique Malllet, Chief Executive at Veolia Environmental Services: “We have been supporters of Breast Cancer Campaign’s wear it pink event since 2005. Our staff up and down the country continue to surprise me with the lengths they go to for this great cause – last year one team even recorded a Veolia Wear it Pink song!”
“The wear it pink campaign captures the hearts and minds of our staff as the majority of them will know someone who has been affected by this terrible disease. On a lighter note it is a great opportunity for our staff to have some fun whilst raising money for an exceptionally worthwhile charity.”
Last year hundreds of thousands of people took part in wear it pink raising a staggering £2.5 million for breast cancer research to help improve survival rates for the one in eight women who experience breast cancer during their lifetime. Every year, some 48,000 are diagnosed with breast cancer and wear it pink helps to fund vital research into the disease which affects so many.
If you missed wear it pink this year, do not worry as you can wear it pink anytime! For only £2 Breast Cancer Campaign challenge you to wear it pink, at work, at home or at school and help save lives. To take part in the UK’s original pink day visit
