A Surrey volunteer who gave up her free time to help support a national breast cancer charity has been named the charity’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’.

Pippa Lee scooped the award after dedicating a huge amount of her time to Breast Cancer Campaign last year, working at the charity’s head office in central London for three months to help support the team in preparing for fundraising initiatives taking place throughout the UK during Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October.

Her dedication and enthusiasm were clear to all, and she always went above and beyond to help staff, volunteers and fundraisers. Her passion for the cause and commitment meant that she would often work past office working hours and on her days off, and she sometimes spent evenings and weekends making materials to help promote events such as the Isle of Pink.

Pippa said: “I’m delighted to have been named this year’s ‘Volunteer of the Year’. I had a fantastic time working at the charity and am really proud that I have helped the team raise awareness of breast cancer and raise money to fund the life-changing research aimed at beating the disease.”

Pamela Goldberg, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Chief Executive said: “Congratulations to Pippa for winning this prestigious award for her outstanding fundraising. It is thanks to the continued support and commitment from people such as Pippa that we are able to fund innovative world-class research to help us improve the lives of breast cancer patients and beat the disease.”

Pippa was presented with the award at a Breast Cancer Campaign ceremony held at the House of Lords on Thursday 19 May.
