Pink flowers blossomed at charity fundraiser

A pink flower display evening led by royal wedding florists Green Parlour in Berkshire has raised over £500 in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign’s Paint the Town Pink.

‘Paint the Town… With Petals’ was held at The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne on last week (Tuesday 18 October) and gave local residents a chance to see the florists in action and win a one of the specially made pink bouquets put together on the evening.

The fundraiser was held as part of Paint the Town Pink in Reading. Back in Reading for the third year running, Paint the Town Pink sees the whole of Reading go pink to help Breast Cancer Campaign raise money for vital research into the disease.

Claire Baggott, a volunteer in Reading who is painting Reading pink and helped organise the fundraising event, said: “We’re thrilled that the flower display event raised over £500 for the charity. Breast cancer affects thousands of women each year so we encourage everyone in Reading to get involved in some way and help Breast Cancer Campaign fund research and raise awareness of the disease.”

There are still plenty of ways to get involved in Paint the Town Pink. The Oracle is once again going pink to support Campaign this week, so keep your eyes peeled for pink fundraisers in the shopping centre.
There is also a Handbags and Gladrags event on wear it pink day on Friday 28 October. The handbag-themed event at the Malmaison Hotel in Reading offers a chance for people in Reading to donate their unwanted and unused handbags and swap it for someone elses! It’s only £15 to attend the fun filled evening, with all proceeds donated to the charity. To buy tickets and secure your place at the event, please visit www.justgiving.com/handbagsandgladrags, call 020 7649 4114 or email  .
Paint the Town… With Petals was supported by local companies including The Elephant Hotel in Pangbourne, Green Parlour, Essentially You and Brown Box Photography.
