Pink bus marks start of Paint the Town Pink!
A pink bus took centre stage in Reading town centre on Friday to mark the start of Paint the Town Pink, which will see the return of pink buildings and pink fundraisers during October to help raise funds for breast cancer research and promote breast awareness in Reading.
Back in Reading for the third year running, Breast Cancer Campaign is aiming to make the event even bigger (and pinker!) than ever before and with the help of volunteers and supporters in the area, there are lots of pink activities to take part in.
The Oracle shopping centre will once again be a focus point for pink fundraising activity, with pink fundraising weeks from 3 -9 October and 24-30 October. It will also be turning itself pink to help promote breast cancer awareness.
Included in the line-up of events taking place this month are; a Pink Day hosted by the London Irish on Sunday 9 October, a pink flower display evening with royal wedding florist Green Parlour on Tuesday 18 October and a handbag-themed evening at the Malmaison Hotel on wear it pink day on Friday 28 October. Wear it pink is Campaign’s national fundraising day which encourages everyone to wear something pink on the day and donate £2 to the charity.
The month-long fundraising initiative will include collections across the city, so whether you’re near a local shop or supermarket, you can show your support by making a donation or buying a pink ribbon.
Lauren Baskett, Breast Cancer Campaign’s Community Development Manager, said: “It’s very exciting to retun to Reading for a third year of Paint the Town Pink after the support we’ve had over the past couple of years. There are more events this year than ever before and plenty of ways you can show your support so I hope everyone gets into the pink spirit to help Campaign raise money for vital breast cancer research.”
