Paint York Pink to help beat breast cancer!

York will be flushed with pink this October as Paint the Town Pink returns for a third year to help raise money for breast cancer research.

Paint the Town Pink is an annual initiative where the charity aims to turn the whole of York as pink as possible with the support of local businesses and fundraisers in the area. Last year, over 15,000 was raised during Paint the Town Pink in York and this year the charity hopes the event will be even bigger (and pinker!) than ever before!

To help celebrate the pink month, locals are being urged to join York’s Pink Walk being held on Thursday 27 October. Back for its second year, the walk starts at the Coppergate Centre at 7pm and takes you along the river and through the historic city centre, passing buildings illuminated in pink! If you register by Friday 30 September, the event costs just £10 per adult and £5 per child under 16 to take part.

Lauren Basket, Breast Cancer Campaign Community Development Manager, said “Paint the Town Pink in York has been a huge success these past two years and we have had overwhelming support from people in the area. The York Walk is a great event for all the family and we hope to see lots of people signing up to take part and help us raise money for breast cancer research this October!”

There will be plenty of other activities taking place in York over the month, including collections at local stores and supermarkets and a national wear it pink day on Friday 28 October, where people across the UK will be wearing pink and donate £2 to help raise money for breast cancer research.
