Paint Reading Pink success!
A month-long pink fundraiser which saw Reading turn pink throughout October has been a major success, raising thousands of pounds for breast cancer research.
Breast Cancer Campaign’s Paint the Town Pink fundraising initiative, which returned to Reading for the third year, saw local businesses, volunteers and supporters out in force to turn the town pinker than ever before.
There were a whole host of pink fundraising activities and events taking place throughout the month including a Pink Day hosted by London Irish, a flower display evening with royal wedding florist Green Parlour, fundraising weeks at the Oracle and a handbag-themed evening at the Malmaison Hotel on wear it pink day, Friday 28 October. wear it pink is the charity’s national fundraising day and people in Reading joined in by wearing something pink on the day and donating £2 to the charity.
So far, over £10,000 of donations has already been received by the charity with more still coming in from supporters.
Lauren Baskett, Community Development Manager at Breast Cancer Campaign, said: “This year’s initiative has been fantastic and there were so many different ways that people in Reading could take part. Thanks to everyone who showed their support and got involved, donated and volunteered for helping make this year’s event a great success.”
