New Forest woman has a ball in aid of breast cancer research

Press Release

For immediate release: 18 October 2011

A New Forest woman has helped to raise more than £200,000 for vital breast cancer research.

Ann Day is a committee member for Breast Cancer Campaign’s Pink Ribbon Ball which took place on October 8 at London’s Dorchester Hotel.

Ann has been on the committee for 2 years and helped to organise this year’s event which raised more than £200,000.

Celebrity guests at the event included Les Dennis, who hosted the event, as well as Ball Patron Linda Nolan, Bernie Nolan, Amanda Lamb, Hayley Tamaddon, Chris Cracknell, Sarah Maxwell, Andrea McLean, Elen Rivas and Anastacia who all showed their support to help raise awareness of breast cancer at the black tie event.

Ann said: “I was a corporate sponsor of the event for nine years, sponsoring the flowers and a table at the event. I decided to join the committee as I really believe in Breast Cancer Campaign and the work that it does for breast cancer research, especially the Breast Cancer Campaign Tissue Bank. I really want to help as much as possible to raise monies to support this charity, and being a member of the Pink Ribbon Ball Committee has been a fantastic way to do that.

“The best thing about being on the committee is the feeling of being part of this charity and knowing that I can help to make a difference to those with breast cancer and help find a cure for this awful disease that affects so many people.”

She continued: “It has been a real privilege being part of the ball committee this year. We would all like to thank the generosity of everyone who donated prizes and dug deep into their pockets on the night and would also like to thank everyone who donated their time to making the evening such a huge success.”
