Neil’s great race to beat breast cancer

Press Release

For immediate release:

A Bury St Edmunds man pulled on his running shoes to take part in the Bupa Great North Run in aid of Breast Cancer Campaign.

52 year old Neil Sandry, who is a Senior Manager at local accountancy firm Knights Lowe, joined 54,000 runners on the starting line for the 13.1 mile race in Newcastle on Sunday 18 September after his mother sadly passed away from breast cancer some years ago.

Neil said: “My mum who was very dear to me, suffered from breast cancer for a few years until she lost her battle with the disease in the late-eighties. I was very proud to run the Bupa Great North Run in memory of her and the thousands of women who are diagnosed with breast cancer every year.”

Following the Bupa Great North Run, Neil is planning to take on another half-marathon in October. He said: “I wanted to help raise as much money as possible to support Campaign’s vital research into breast cancer and also to help improve treatments for those currently battling the disease so I thought I’d take on another challenge! I’ll be running the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon in London on October 9 which I am really looking forward to.”

Neil’s fundraising for Campaign has been really successful and he is well on his way to reaching his target for both the Bupa Great North Run and the Royal Parks Foundation Half Marathon. He said: “I am still collecting donations and don’t like to count anything until I have the money in my hand! However, having been given a target of £650 for my two runs this year I have so far doubled it – and more, which is fantastic!”
