Mother and daughter walk to beat breast cancer at the annual Generations Walk

Local walker Stacey Pell and her daughter Amberley from Stanmore, Middlesex, will put their best foot forward for breast cancer research this June by taking part in the annual Generations Walk for Breast Cancer Campaign.

The duo will join hundreds of walkers on Hampstead Heath for the 5k stroll on Sunday 12 June to support the 48,000 people who are diagnosed with breast cancer in the UK each year.

Stacey said: “So many women are affected by breast cancer so I think the Generations Walk is a great way to raise money as a family. My daughter took part last year and had a great time so I’m thrilled to walk with her this year. I hope lots more people will join us on the day to help raise much needed funds for this worthwhile cause.”

If you would like to sponsor Stacey for the Generations Walk please visit www.breastcancercampaign.org/donations and donate what you can.

This year marks the 13th annual walk on Hampstead Heath and has so far raised a whopping £270,000 to help Breast Cancer Campaign continue funding world-class breast cancer research.

Registration for the walk, which starts at 11am, costs just £10 for adults, and is £5 for under 12s. You can sign up on the day and each participant will receive a Generations Walk pink t-shirt, achievement medal and the walk’s organisers will also host a free picnic lunch at Kenwood House.

All funds raised will help support a project by Dr Jeremy Blaydes at the University of Southampton, who is currently investigating why chemotherapy stops working for 40 per cent of patients. His research involves testing a huge number of potential new drugs known as ‘inhibitors’ to find ones that could restore the effectiveness of chemotherapy and ultimately improve the chances of survival for many more people with breast cancer.

If you are interested in joining Stacey and Amberley at this year’s Generation Walk please visit www.generationswalk.co.uk or call the Events team on 020 7749 4114.
