Leapark Hotel wear it pink in support of Breast Cancer Campaign
On Friday 21 October, staff at Leapark Hotel, Grangemouth took part in a day of pink themed activity in support of Breast Cancer Campaign’s annual wear it pink day.
The pink parade saw all staff sporting items of pink having donated £2 each to Breast Cancer Campaign, the charity which aims to beat breast cancer.
A pink party took place in the evening and around 200 people attended each donating £2 to Campaign. Throughout the evening there was a disco, magician show, Zumba demonstration and limbo dancing and prizes were awarded for the best dressed guests! Gifts from local business were sold at the event and 10% of the profits were donated to Campaign.
The wear it pink day raised an incredible £1720 for Breast Cancer campaign, which will help fund world class breast cancer research.
The event was organised by Alison Wilkie, Lorraine Morton, Jeanette Crawford, Carrie Rankin and Keri Calder.
Alison Wilkie, receptionist at Leapark Hotel said: “We support wear it pink as the cause is close to all of our hearts. I sadly lost my sister to the disease at the young age of 44. My Mum has also been affected by breast cancer, as well as Lorraine’s Mum and Jeanette’s sister in law.”
“Everyone that works here seems to know of someone that has been affected by breast cancer which is why we believe it is so important to raise money and awareness for Breast cancer campaign.”
Last year hundreds of thousands of people took part in wear it pink raising a staggering £2.5 million for breast cancer research to help improve survival rates for the one in eight women who experience breast cancer during their lifetime. Every year, some 48,000 are diagnosed with breast cancer and wear it pink helps to fund vital research into the disease which affects so many.
