Anne’s mural for Isle of Pink
Island artist Anne Turner has decorated the side of her house pink for Breast Cancer Campaign to celebrate the Isle of Pink and raise awareness of the disease.
Anne Turner, who lives in Upper Ventnor, painted the pink 7.5m (25ft) mural on the side of her house in less than two weeks. The mural is one of over 100 she has painted on the wall in the past ten years, an average of nearly one a month.
Anne said: “Painting this bright pink mural is the perfect way for me to show my support for the Isle of Pink. There are 48,000 people diagnosed with breast cancer each year, so I chose to paint something which shows how everyone can be affected by breast cancer. I hope that everyone who sees it is reminded to join in the Isle of Pink and help Breast Cancer Campaign raise money to fund research into the disease.”
There is still a chance for you to get involved in the Isle of Pink. On Friday 30 September, people across the island will taking part in wear it pink to help raise money on the last day of the Isle of Pink. To join in, all you have to do is wear pink for the day and donate £2 to charity. For more information visit
