Please find attached the latest news from Leeds-based energy experts, Bergen Energi reporting recent business success.

Leeds-based Energy Experts, Bergen Energi have returned from a recent trip to Ireland with valuable new business from owners of Selfridges, Browne Thomas.

Bergen Energi organised a seminar in Dublin to help make businesses aware of the opportunities afforded by the ongoing deregulation of the Irish energy market with the economic downturn providing the impetus for many to shop around for energy with a view to stabilising operating costs.

Deregulation has opened up the market to increased competition which is leading to improved choice for energy users and between 2009 and 2010 this saw over 850,000 business and domestic customers switching supplier which is equivalent to almost 40% of customers taking advantage of the new structure.

Commenting on the success of the event John Daynes, Bergen Energi’s Vice President for the UK and Ireland said, “Businesses in Ireland have a great opportunity to improve the way in which they buy energy thanks to the deregulation. Our conference brought together customers with suppliers including Bord Gais Energy, Gazprom Energy, Electric Ireland and Airtricity.”

Bergen Energi’s services which include energy procurement, risk management, consultancy and data and invoice management as well as a completely unbiased relationship with the market’s many energy producers underpinned by accreditation to the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).

Brown Thomas has appointed Bergen Energi to provide consultancy and supply across a range of the company’s energy requirements with a view to better understanding their energy use to help drive better efficiencies and reduce operating costs.
Speaking of the event Steve Gamble of Browne Thomas said “Bergen Energi helped to de-mystify the workings of the wholesale energy market whilst providing expert input. The presentations by the CER, Gazprom Energy, Airtricity, Electric Ireland and other suppliers provided real value and armed us immediately with the tools to make better decisions regarding energy sourcing, management and efficiency.

John Daynes continues, “We work closely with customers from a diverse range of sectors and our service offer allows us to advise on all type of energy requirements. We offer simple supply solutions through to strategic energy procurement, portfolio management, energy efficiency plans, carbon reduction projects and risk management. The breadth of services coupled with the deregulation within the market allows means there are some great improvements within reach of businesses who want to make the most from their energy supply”
